Production and distribution

What are the different responsibilities of presenters and producers?

One of the producers main jobs is to make sure the team is all getting along and that they individually know what jobs they have to take on individually. As well as this the producers have to be thinking ahead in every way for example what's going to happen at the end of the show and what's coming up in the next link. As well as make sure their radios are turned off and that they all sound perfectly for the millions of listeners.

What preparation that goes into each programme?

They will look at current affairs to see what they can talk about and stay as relevant as

possible. They will have a piece of paper guiding them on what they should talk about,

however, it is not a script it just guides them on what to talk about. They will plan big sectors

for example competitions or interviews but other than that it is pretty flexible.

What's most challenging and most enjoyable about working on the show?

One of the most enjoyable things is that you are still not quite sure what is going to happen

and is very unpredictable especially when they have call ins. A challenging part of the show

is waking up early and start thinking straight away

What are the team dynamics like?

The team work very well together and try to help each other out as much as possible and a
part of this is communication as this makes a show run smooth and make sure everyone is

on the same page. As well as this due to the room being very small you need to make sure

everyone is comfortable in their own little space.

How can you break into radio?

You can just start doing little things at your local radio station and understand how things
work and how a radio works. A key aspect to do well in radio is being able to communicate
with others and being able to hold conversation. Finally, don't be afraid of getting rejected
email people go for interviews and just put yourself out there.
